We're thankful that the mission of God goes on...
I want to take this opportunity to update you on how PAOC International Missions (IM) and RAN are responding to the COVID-19 crisis and the action steps that we are taking on behalf of your Global Workers.
I also need to thank you for your prayers and your ongoing financial support. Our hearts go out to everyone who is touched by this virus and its impacts. In times of great crisis and challenge, your generosity astounds us. You truly are incredible partners.
1) Empowerment: Each fully appointed Global Worker has been empowered to make decisions that best fits their context. The vast majority of Global Workers are choosing to remain in the field for now. Their ministry continues, only now in different forms. I encourage you to follow our social media channels to see how our workers are innovating to serve people better. Together we have sent workers who are providing critical services to their communities at this time; needs have only increased during this crisis.
2) Care: The IM and RAN Home Teams, the Regional Directors, and their respective leadership teams are in constant contact with our Global Workers. We are monitoring the situation in their countries of service and are providing support and guidance as needed. Although our building is now closed, our office is still open online, and our Home Teams are working hard!
3) Repatriation: I am pleased to report that practically all of our volunteers, short-term and mid-term Global Workers have returned to Canada. Our IM and RAN Home Teams have worked incredibly hard to make sure that they arrived home as soon as possible. The few that are still overseas are in the care of an experienced Global Worker. Also, several Global Workers at high risk, or where required, have come home.
The effects of this virus are being felt across our country and the world, but here are some steps you can take to help your Global Workers:
The prayer of our partners is essential to our collective mission. Pray for the vulnerable and marginalized, that the church will be a beacon of hope during this time. We have a prayer email that goes out weekly that you can sign-up for by clicking HERE.
2) Continue your support.
If you are able, we ask that you continue giving at your current level. Our Global Workers rely on your commitment and generosity, as do their national staff and the people they serve. We are thankful for you.
3) Consider increasing your giving.
As COVID-19 affects Canada, some of our donors may have to make the difficult decision to pause their support. If you are able, this is an excellent time to make a one-time gift above your current support levels or to become a monthly donor. Your generosity will ensure that Global Workers can continue to serve their communities.
The mission of God continues. The witness that our Global Workers provide, embodying the love and care of Jesus, doesn’t stop in a crisis; in fact, the light of the gospel must shine brighter.
Our prayer, like King Hezekiah's in 2 Kings 19:19 (NIV), is:
"Now, LORD our God, deliver us from [this], so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, LORD, are God."
Together in mission,
