MISSION CANADA CAMPUS WORKER
Ministry Location: University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, SK
Ministry Focus: Campus Ministry
Calvary deJong is a Mission Canada campus worker in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, working as part of the Mission Canada SERVE Campus Network. The University of Saskatchewan is situated in the heart of the city, just across the river from the downtown core and is the largest post-secondary institution in the province with over 20,000 students. Being present allows for multiple opportunities every day to rub shoulders with post-secondary students, building personal relationships and serving as a bridge between the campus and local faith communities. Calvary comes alongside students, helping them develop a healthy worldview, and connecting their universal needs with a spiritual journey—one that centres on the person, work, mission and community of Christ. In the journeying, vision and purpose are challenged and strengthened … and students are encouraged to seek true meaning for life. Calvary is energized by casting the vision of a thoroughly missional lifestyle in the context of a multicultural secular society that is religiously pluralistic. He delights in helping students engage the social world around them—in Jesus’ name.
