Ministry Location: British Columbia Institute of Technology, Burnaby, BC
Ministry Focus: Campus Ministry
Josh Tamblyn has pastored kids, preteens, youth and families for three years across multiple churches in British Columbia. He also worked at some homeless shelters before Bible College, and was a chef for four years and cooked for ten. God called him to missions at the age of 21, but he just never “answered the phone”!
More recently, Josh’s passion for missions was restoked but in a local sense. The mission field - British Columbia Institute of Technology, or BCIT for short. BCIT has 32,000 students and is located in one of the most unchurched cities in North America – Burnaby, BC. Josh has a huge heart for students who struggle with mental illness and he is excited to introduce international students to Jesus. Josh finds himself being able to relate to the challenges students are facing in the area of mental illness as he, too, used to struggle in that area … until God healed him. What made his healing even more exciting was that the change was confirmed by a doctor. Josh knows the power of God at work to save and to heal.
BCIT is a tech campus, so gaming is pretty big in the culture of the university. Josh has connected with non-Christian students on campus through the gaming ministry. He is extremely mission-focused, and he won’t stop until these individuals have had the opportunity to make a personal decision to follow Christ.
Josh is quite extroverted and loves people. He has a big heart and wants to share it with his community. He welcomes you to join him in praying for the students and the ministry on campus at BCIT. Pray for gamers specifically, that their lives would be transformed by the power of Christ. And consider partnering with Josh as he seeks to make a great kingdom impact on this campus.
