MISSION CANADA URBAN WORKER
Ministry Location: Nationwide
Ministry Focus: Film and Entertainment Industry
Jamie Rauch carries an incredible vision as a Mission Canada worker who is desirous of reaching and impacting the film and entertainment industry in Canada, and beyond. Light in Film was created as the platform to help make this happen. Sadly, the film industry is known for its high divorce, suicide and drug rates. This can only be turned around as the presence and power of Christ is made evident and experienced by those in the industry.
Light in Film uses four different channels of ministry to ensure a broad spiritual impact is made:
Underground (Church/Gathering): Presently, there are four Underground gatherings across Canada. They began in Vancouver, then went on to launch in Montreal, Calgary, and most recently in Toronto. The Underground is an exclusive entertainment circle that draws people from the entertainment industry, allowing them to meet and do life together in a setting that is not public—no cameras or pictures, no social media, no autographs, schmoozing or networking. These events are invite only for those and by those who work in this demanding industry. The Underground is a life-giving community where people can experience true faith, hope and love, and feel the care of those who are of like mind and passion. Each Underground has its own leader and leadership team. This initiative has grown incredibly in the last few years, and now has 25+ leaders across Canada.
Mentorship (Discipleship): Light in Film takes people in the entertainment industry and trains them how to walk out a supernatural Christian lifestyle. As Jamie is invited to speak and provide training to local churches and ministries, he welcomes friends in the entertainment industry to join him so they can also learn how to minister to others. Jamie believes that if they can minister in a safe atmosphere first, then they'll be able to do so with greater confidence and reliance on the Spirit when on a movie set. This ministry outlet is known as "Influence & Love."
On-Set Emissary (Chaplaincy): Jamie and others are present on set, in studios and production offices throughout the entire time a movie is being made. Having on-site emissaries gives an open door to pray, talk, serve, counsel, disciple and care for those working long hours on a set. An emissary is known to be a person on a “special mission”, like an ambassador. This type of role is greatly needed in this industry, to journey with people who operate in high-stress settings. 2 Corinthians 5:20 (TPT) describes our purpose so well: "We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to him.”
Films (Light in Film Productions): Light in Film makes movies, TV shows and documentaries. By doing so, there is a platform for connecting with and influencing those in Hollywood. By producing entertainment, Light in Film is able to place emissaries on sets who can influence the culture (i.e. family trailers introduced so parents, spouses and children can spend time together). This can help to bring change in a culture where there is a 98% divorce rate among those in the industry.
It is the goal of Light in Film to influence the film and entertainment industry in any way possible, with God’s help.
