Ministry Location: University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC
Ministry Focus: Campus Ministry
Chris Felzmann works as a campus minister at the University of British Columbia (UBC), located in Vancouver, BC. The campus is truly a small city with over 60,000 students. Over 10,000 live on campus along with 10,000 other residents. Many nations are represented at UBC making it a substantial mission field. Chris also represents the PAOC as one of the chaplains on campus which allows him to connect with students in residence.
As a campus worker, Chris helps university students enter into a relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, and he journeys with them so they will grow and develop in their Christian faith. His vision is to foster a university community where opportunities are provided for worship, fellowship, discipleship, prayer, and outreach. Along with their mission statement, the workers on the UBC campus place a high priority on raising up future leaders. Many graduate students end up ministering in their local churches as small group leaders, on church boards and as elders while being involved in their vocational work.
It is a joy for Chris to serve the students at UBC as they ask hard questions, come to an understanding of who Jesus is, and then decide to follow Him with their life. As they grow in their faith in Christ, students also support one another and love each other well. It’s exciting to be part of their life and faith journeys! In this significant mission opportunity on campus, many students have opportunity to hear to gospel. Seeds are planted and some come to faith. Seeing transformed lives is what it is all about.
