When people ask Connie, "Why be a missionary to hip-hop culture in Calgary?" her response is simply, "if we don't reach them the WHO WILL?" Connie Jakab is an urban worker to the arts and hip-hop community in Calgary. Her goal is to reach a group of young adults who have not been exposed to the changing power of Jesus. Her ministry is not behind the doors of a church but in the streets and public venues.

The ability to communicate in French is the most important prerequisite for effective service in the Francophone milieu. FIT4M stands for French Intensive Training for Ministry, and the program is an essential part of our overall effort to bring the message of Christ and establish PAOC communities in Francophone areas. THE FLITE PROGRAM of the 70’s and 80’s In the early ‘60s, officials of the PAOC became keenly aware of the special challenges with evangelizing French Canada. A new strategy named FLITE was launched in 1969 under the direction of then Home Missions and Bible Colleges Director Robert Argue. The acronym stood for “French Language Intensive Training for Evangelism”. The FLITE program enlisted graduates of English speaking Bible Schools and gave them the opportunity to learn the French language at Laval University in Québec City.

Just think about the effect the film industry has on our culture, the way we think, and even the way we can tend to view things. Take a closer look and you will see the destruction that takes place behind the scenes in filmmaking. This needs to change, and the only way that can happen is through Jesus!

Picture this... 25,000 people in a close knit community, young, passionate students with big aspirations, all training for professional vocations. Many will become influential leaders in our world aiming to shape the fabric of society in the coming years. 25,000 with no Christian focus.

In 2008, all of this changed. Mission Canada appointed their first missionary to this community... Humber College in Toronto, ON.

The Embassy exists to help students discover hope, purpose and life to its fullest through the message, mission and living person of Jesus Christ. It’s a place where students can gather to worship weekly and be exposed to biblical teaching that’s applicable to their surroundings and pertinent to their unique stage in life.

We have made a crucial decision as a Pentecostal family. We have determined to have a national mission agency that will enable us to reach Canada with the gospel in unique ways. There are many contexts where there is a gap; campuses, people groups, regions and communities where Jesus is inadequately represented. Mission Canada is committed to identify and equip those who will pursue their calling to fill these gaps.

Mission Canada is a growing movement of God's people who actively care about our nation. Its strength is the collective passion, insight, and vision of proven local practitioners on five missional priorities that focus on particular peoples in our nation.
