Türkiye/Syria Earthquake Crisis Response
An update on our response to the crisis in Türkiye and Syria
On February 6, 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck southeast Türkiye near the Syrian border. A second 7.5 magnitude earthquake occurred soon after. Over 100 aftershocks have continued to cause untold damage. According to the BBC, it is estimated there are already over 11,000 casualties in Türkiye and Syria, making this Türkiye's most devastating disaster in 100 years.
We thank God that all our global workers and partners in the region are safe and accounted for. However, they know many individuals and families who are experiencing terrible loss.
We need your help to respond to this crisis in Türkiye and Syria. Our goal is to provide emergency food, clean water, blankets, tents, and clothes to as many families as we can, as quickly as we can. If you want to be part of this response, please click here to give.
We also ask you to pray for the thousands of lives impacted and that the light and hope of Jesus will shine in the midst of such unspeakable suffering. The Psalmist David reminds us, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Ps. 34:18).
May God comfort those who are suffering so deeply, and may they look to Him in their pain and sorrow.
