Here’s how we’re praying this month. Along with our monthly prayer focus, visit www.everydayfaith.ca for encouragement in the disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, generosity and sharing our faith in word and deed.

Thank you for your continued participation in Every Day Faith.

September – Theological Vitality – Read, Share

Key Everyday Thought:

Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity (1 Timothy 4:12b).

College and university life can represent so many things to a young person—a chance to meet new friends, develop a social life, and be exposed to a lot of exciting information in preparation for a meaningful career. For others, it can represent a time of anxiety, feelings of isolation and uncertainty about the future, and for Christian students, the temptation to abandon trust in Jesus. God wants each one to know that He loves them, created them with a specific purpose in mind, cares about their situation now, and has plans for their future. Pray for each one to be awakened to their need for God and the salvation that is offered to them through Christ. Pray that they would reach out to Him when they face difficulties, and that they would experience the deliverance He offers. Pray that our campus outreaches and ministries would see continued growth and favour so that Canada’s two million post-secondary students will have a gospel witness wherever they are attending classes.

Ask and it will be granted…

– That Christian students will be strengthened in their faith
– That God’s Spirit will help them to resist temptation
– That they will be granted boldness to share the gospel
– That all students will learn to trust in God’s good plans for their lives
– That those seeking hope will find it in Christ
– That Christian witness and ministry will have a powerful impact

PASSAGES TO PONDER
1 Corinthians 10:13
“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”

Deuteronomy 31:6
“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”

Psalm 119:9
“How can a young person stay pure?
By obeying your word.”

Jeremiah 29:11
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the LORD. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.’”

Philippians 4:6-7
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Next month’s key thought: Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon (Isaiah 58:10).
