deWeerd, Ryan & Heather

Ryan deWeerd, married to Heather DeWeerd, was born and raised in the Toronto area, felt God's call to ministry at an early age and became involved in worship and youth leadership at his home church. During the completion of his BASc in Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto, he took several trips to the Dominican Republic which confirmed his call to missions. After graduating from U of T, he returned to the DR to work in the North Coast town of Nagua. In October of 2012, he married Heather and they are working together as missionaries, both with a passion for reaching the nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Concurrent with full-time missions work, Ryan is taking his M.Div. through Global University Canada. Together with Heather and the rest of his teammates, he is helping equip and empower the Dominican church to reach their nation and other nations for Jesus.

Prayer Request/Praise Report:

The last few months have been very exciting to say the least! Heather and I were married in Peterborough, Ontario on October 6th, 2012 and are preparing for our return to the Dominican Republic at the end of December. We have seen God's hand of blessing in favour in all of our steps, personally and in ministry. Please pray as we itinerate in the Ontario region and as we get things ready for our return to the DR, now as a missionary couple!

Fire In My Bones Pastoral Conference

Over 800 pastors and leaders from four provinces descended upon the town of Nagua for a day of refreshing and renewal in the Holy Spirit. It was an unforgettable and unprecedented day...

On Saturday, August 20, 2011, our team hosted the first Dominican Northeast regional pastoral conference in a retreat facility on a hill overlooking Nagua. It was an unforgettable day as over 800 pastors and church leaders from different denominations gathered together to receive a day of seminars, complete with lunch and materials. Our trained team of worship leaders from Nagua led us to the presence of God and the speakers from Canada ignited a holy fire in the attendees through the powerful preaching of the Word of God. The roar of victory was surely heard throughout Nagua as the pastors and leaders cried out to God in thanks because, even before the many battles are won and miracles are seen, our victory in Christ has been proclaimed and is certain. Never before have so many pastors and leaders in this area been brought together under one roof to be equipped and empowered. It was a God moment, indeed. The Lord is moving in the Dominican Republic!
